Starting over…

Easter is the first Sunday following the first full moon that occurs on or after the day of the vernal equinox (the first day of spring).   It can fall on any date (that’s a Sunday) between 22 March and 25th April.  The most likely date is 19 April while the average date is 7th April.

The date upon which it may fall straddles the day  (21st of April) when the sun slips from Aires to Taurus.

Statistically, Easter is much more likely to fall into Aries than Taurus.

This year, Taurus wins.

What might this mean?

In Old Testament times, at around Easter time, priests would sacrifice lambs as an offering.   When Jesus arrived, he became the sacrificial lamb – the ‘Lamb of God’.

Blood purifies.

The letting of blood expiates our sins.

This is why Easter is associated with rebirth and resurrection.  Easter is the time to atone for our transgressions and start over again, fresh and clean. With all the focus on bloodletting, it’s fitting that Easter usually occurs in Aries.

Aries is an ardent, spirited energy.

As the archetypal warrior, Aries is action-oriented and focused to win.

Lamb of God

But when Easter falls into Taurus, we’re introduced with a new kind of energy – solid, stable, secure, and settled.  As the archetypal Earth Mother, Taurus gets back to basics.

The Taurean platitude is ‘slow and steady as she goes’.

So this Easter, why not take advantage of the  shift from being active and outgoing to that of  being more self-sufficient and serene.  After all, you’re getting a second chance.

You’re starting over.

Why do it all the same again?

Warrior Queen

When Venus was in Pisces (from end of March until now), you might have expected your beloved to be confused and/or disillusioned.

Now, with Venus in Aries, you can expect your love life to heat up but it might not turn out quite as you’ve planned.

This is the time of the warrior queen.

Warrior Queen

It’s not so much that during this time love will wither and die – indeed probably the opposite is true.

Love gives naught but itself and takes naught but from itself.

Love possesses not nor would it be possessed:

For love is sufficient unto love.

Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet

Venus in Aries is selfish by nature and in such a hurry to gratify her desires that her relationships are more than likely to be – well, not to put too fine a point on it – superficial.

  • Exciting yes.
  • Long-lived, probably not.

If you’re just on the look-out for a hot date, now’s the time.

But if you’re looking for a mutually satisfying relationship that will last ‘until death do you part’, then wait until Venus moves into Taurus in mid-May.

  • What do you want from this situation and why?
  • What is ‘good enough’ for right now?
  • Do you believe what you’ve just said?

Verbal Impatience aka/just plain rude speech

Wednesday  (at 6:02 GMT), Mercury moves into Aries where he remains until mid-May.

When Mercury was in Pisces, communication flowed easily, albeit not so well understood. Now, communication will flow even more easily and everyone will know exactly what it is that was meant to be conveyed.

Key concepts for this period include verbal impatience, quick thinking, and just plain rude speech.

Don’t forget that words hurled in anger hurt – and stick.

You may or may not have meant what you said in the heat of the moment, but long after you’ve moved on, the other person will remember exactly what it is that you’ve said.

  • What does this situation teach you about yourself?
  • What does that mean about you?
  • What do you choose to do with this information?

Fairy Godmothers

You pray in your distress and in your need: would that you might pray also in the fullness of your job and in your days of abundance.

Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet

On 5 April at 8:52 GMT (not BST), is this year’s new moon in Aries.

Now is the perfect time to get in contact your fairy godmother and/or guardian angels. Guides, nature spirits, and magical helpers of all sorts are almost always around, especially when you believe in them and trust in their presence.

So, if you’ve been struggling to get all that you need to do done, have faith that if you ask for help, you’ll get it.

Equally, keep in mind that God (and fairy godmothers and guardian angels) prefers to help those who help themselves, so don’t forget that you’re asking for help to get your work done, not someone to do it for you.

Where’s your fairy godmother?

While you’re at it, you might also ask your fairy godmother or guardian angel to support someone else also in need and to set a good example for her (or him), you might get the ball rolling by offering that someone your own helping hand.

  • What action will you take?
  • What is the next step?
  • When (time and date) will you have completed this?

Myth for Aries

In many respects, each of us is the hero or heroine in our own mythic journey and that journey is all about your Sun sign.

To get the most out of these myths, ask yourself questions like whether you can relate with the characters and their dilemmas. Consider how your own life experiences have been different or similar to theirs. What are the strengths and weaknesses of these heroes and heroines? Where did they go right or wrong and most importantly, how would you have done things differently?

For the next thirty days, the Sun is in Aries – and so Aries, this myth is for you:

Jason must fight for his throne by bringing home the Golden Fleece. This feat requires a long and dangerous journey and Jason rises to the challenge to prove his mettle.

Although Jason displays remarkable courage and skill, he is victorious only with the help of a sorceress named Medea, whom he promises to marry.

Jason & the Golden Fleece

Jason returns home with Medea and claims his crown.

But as with most Aries, Jason enjoys the battle more than the prize. Always seeking a new conquest, he decides to win a new kingdom by divorcing Medea and marrying another princess.

Aries undervalues the feminine at his peril. When Medea takes her revenge, Jason loses everything.
